Encounter Classes
Tucked in Goleta, just 20 minutes from downtown Santa Barbara, we invite you into the world of birds of prey with a private, up-close encounter at our home base. Each session introduces guests to a hawk, a falcon, and an owl — three species. You'll learn about their history, hunting behavior, and conservation status, then get the chance to hold each bird and call them to your glove for an unforgettable, hands-on moment.

School & Group Presentations
Bring the wonder of birds of prey straight to your classroom or group with SweetHawk Falconry. Our presentations introduce your students or guests to live hawks, falcons, and owls in an engaging, classroom-or meet & greet style format tailored to any age group. Each bird's individual story comes to life alongside fun facts about their species, their role in falconry, and their conservation status — brought home with hands-on teaching aids like feathers and activity pages for younger learners.

Welcome Bonsai, Debuting in an
All-Owls Encounter This October!
Goleta, CA — SweetHawk Falconry is celebrating the arrival of its newest bird, Bonsai — a two-month-old Northern Hawk Owl already charming guests with her curious, energetic personality. In honor of Bon Bon's debut, SweetHawk is launching a brand-new Owls Only Encounter starting in October, featuring three distinct species: the Northern Hawk Owl, the Eurasian Eagle Owl, and the Screech Owl. Guests will get an up-close look at each bird's unique size, hunting style, and story, led by California state-licensed master falconer Vicki Gardner. Debuting at SweetHawk’s home encounters in Goleta, book now to meet Bonsai and her fellow owls this fall. Stay Tuned!!

Solvang, CA — Alisal Ranch now hosts SweetHawk Falconry encounters every weekend — Saturdays 12–2 p.m. and Sundays 9–11 a.m. Led by licensed master falconer Vicki Gardner, guests get hands-on time with hawks, falcons, and owls, including the chance to call a bird to the glove. It's the same encounter SweetHawk offers at their Goleta home base, now available at Alisal Ranch. Ages 7+. Must Reserve through the Ranch Concierge.

We’re thrilled to team up with Chan the Birdman and the Avian Center for Enrichment (ACE) — a non profit focused on advancing the understanding of bird behavior and compassionate care. Our mission is to help people understand and connect with their birds so they can live together in harmony.
Too many parrots and raptors are rehomed because of behavior or health challenges, or because families aren’t prepared to care for them long-term. We’re here to change that — through education, training, and support that strengthen the bond between birds and the people who love them.
